Why I Became an Insurance Broker

After spending more than 25 years working in healthcare as an Occupational Therapist, I saw firsthand how confusing the insurance system can be for patients and families.

Many people were trying to focus on their health while also struggling to understand what their insurance covered, what it didn’t, and what their options really were. I realized how much stress and uncertainty the process could create.

Later, when I began reviewing medical claims for insurance companies, I gained a deeper understanding of how policies are written and how decisions are made behind the scenes. I spent years reading the fine print and evaluating whether claims should be approved.

That experience gave me insight that most people navigating insurance simply don’t have access to.

Becoming an independent broker allowed me to use that knowledge in a different way,  not working for an insurance company, but working for the people who need guidance the most.

Today, my goal is simple: to help my clients understand their options, make informed decisions, and feel confident that the coverage they choose protects them and their families.

Family-Owned

My husband, David, and I own McPherson Insurance Solutions, and together we are committed to helping individuals, families, and business owners find coverage with clarity, care, and personal service.

Beyond Insurance

Outside of work, I love traveling, spending time with my five adult children, cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs, boating on Beaver Lake, and going on walks or hikes with my four dogs.

I don’t work for the insurance companies. I work for my clients.
